Dr. Andrea Garcia

Dr. Andrea Garcia has worked as an occupational therapist for over 25 years, and currently works as the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator and Specialist Professor of occupational therapy at Monmouth University.
 

Andrea earned her Reiki 1 in 2015, Reiki 2 in 2016, and started her Reiki business in 2016. While in doctoral school in 2017, Andrea earned her certificate in Integrative and Holistic Health, followed shortly with her Reiki Master Teacher certificate. Andrea was trained in auriculotherapy acupressure in 2018 and finished her Usui Reiki training with her Reiki 3 certificate in 2019.
 

Andrea has attuned many Reiki 1, 2, and 3/Master students. She believes that Reiki and energy work have saved her life, and feels deep gratitude for Reiki practice.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning "universal," and "Ki," meaning "life energy." It is based on the idea that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all living things and that this energy can be harnessed and directed to promote healing and balance.

In a typical Reiki session, a practitioner uses their hands to channel this energy to the recipient, either by lightly touching them or by holding their hands just above the body. The goal is to help the recipient relax, reduce stress, and support the body's natural healing processes. Some people report feeling a sense of warmth or tingling during the session, while others simply experience deep relaxation.

Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments, and its effectiveness can vary from person to person. While scientific evidence on its efficacy is limited, many people find it to be a valuable tool for improving their overall well-being and enhancing their sense of calm and balance.
